There's a Bigger Problem than Global Warming

Everyone hears about Global Warming and Climate Crisis on a daily basis, but there's a bigger problem we need to tackle very soon - like yesterday. It's biodiversity, and it also encompasses global warming, but includes deforestation, habitat loss, and the extinction of 10's of thousands of species, along with over-plastification of our planet. Whew! Okay, that's a lot, but where do we start? Take 3 mins and read below. There's hope and you can help Arkearth with several of these missions! :-)

Sustainable Development: Embrace sustainable practices that balance economic growth with environmental protection. This includes promoting renewable energy sources, reducing carbon emissions, and implementing efficient resource management strategies.

Conservation and Habitat Protection: Preserve and restore natural habitats, including forests, wetlands, and coral reefs, as they support biodiversity and provide essential ecosystem services. Establish protected areas and ensure effective management and enforcement of conservation measures.

Biodiversity Preservation: Recognize the value of biodiversity and prioritize its conservation. This involves protecting endangered species, preventing habitat fragmentation, and implementing measures to combat invasive species.

Environmental Education: Promote environmental awareness and education at all levels, from schools to communities. Foster a sense of responsibility and understanding of the interconnectedness between human well-being and the health of the environment. Arkearth works with STEM and STEAM programs to provide insightful and engaging curriculum for schools, colleges, and summer camps.

Sustainable Agriculture and Land Use: Promote sustainable farming practices that minimize negative environmental impacts, such as agrochemical use, soil erosion, and water pollution. Encourage organic farming, agroforestry, and regenerative agriculture techniques. Arkearth does this by helping community gardens and urban farms with planting and pollination efforts that can increase crop yields from 12% to 30%!

Responsible Consumption and Production: Encourage responsible consumption patterns by promoting the use of eco-friendly products, reducing waste generation, and adopting circular economy principles. Minimize single-use plastics and embrace recycling and composting.

Climate Change Mitigation: Address the causes and consequences of climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Transition to low-carbon technologies, promote energy efficiency, and support international efforts to limit global warming.

Sustainable Fisheries and Ocean Conservation: Promote sustainable fishing practices, enforce regulations to combat overfishing, and establish marine protected areas. Reduce marine pollution, including plastic waste, and take steps to conserve marine ecosystems and their biodiversity.

International Cooperation: Foster collaboration among governments, organizations, and individuals to address global environmental challenges. Support international agreements, such as the Paris Agreement, and work towards shared goals and targets.

Research and Innovation: Invest in scientific research, technological innovation, and monitoring systems to enhance our understanding of environmental challenges. Develop new solutions, technologies, and strategies to protect biodiversity and address environmental threats.

Remember that these steps require long-term commitment and cooperation from individuals, communities, governments, and organizations worldwide. By taking these intelligent steps, we can protect our species and the Earth's environmental biodiversity for future generations.

Arkearth works actively in the areas of Conservation and Habitat, Sustainable Agriculture, Responsible Consumption, Environmental Education, and Research and Development. Consider a small donation today to help us deploy and maintain Pollination Accelerators!
